Kurikka Upper Secondary School
Overview
Kurikka Upper Secondary School operates in new, modern, beautiful facilities at Kurikka Kampus. The school has a lot of students´ break activities: the gym and sports facilities can be used freely, table tennis, pool table, air hockey, iWall exergaming wall, guided wall climbing and playing a grand piano. The teachers are competent, professional and approachable.
The temperature is about +25 degrees (Celsius) in summer and -15 degrees in winter. The weather is beautiful and sunny in summer and in autumn. Sometimes it rains in autumn. In winter there is snow and the lakes are frozen. The temperature is about + 10 degrees in spring.
It´s 30 kilometers from Kurikka to Seinäjoki and 340 kilometers from Helsinki. It´s 70 kilometers from Kurikka to Vaasa and 160 kilometers from Tampere.
The school is located in the city center and all services are nearby. It´s 1,9 kilometers from the school to health care centers and 2,4 kilometers from the bus station. One restaurant is next to the school and the others are 1,3 - 1,7 kilometers away. The gym and swimming hall are 1,1 kilometers away. Supermarkets, a bank and a pharmacy are nearby.
Requirement
Entrance Interview (in Finnish language). Candidates for interview will be selected based on motivation videos.

Study line - General Study Line
The school offers a general line.
Students can steer their studies by focusing on different subjects according to their interests. The school offers abundant courses: extensive studies in mathematics, other academic subjects, languages, arts and skills topics. Language selection: in addition to English, students can study German as a continuing language and German, Spanish and Russian as languages starting in upper secondary school. The school has upper-secondary school diplomas in music, visual arts and sports.

A student apartments cost approximately 266 - 400 euros per month, including electricity, water and Internet.

Tuition is free. Textbooks and a laptop are available free of charge. Free lunch is served at the student restaurant on school days. Café services are available all day. The gym and sports facilities can be used freely at school. At Kurikka Kampus student well-being services are free: student counselor, special education teacher, school social worker, school nurse and psychiatric nurse.
Accommodation
An outside housing company is in charge of providing students with accommodation.
Since there's a cultural difference, please make sure students can live with someone at the beginning phase rather than alone as well as they are separated according to their gender.
Other
The school has a partner school in Melhus, Norway. We are now applying for funding for cooperation (Nordplus Junior) for the exchange program.
We have cooperated with different higher education institutions and universities: courses, and visits. The students are most likely to apply to the universities of Tampere, Vaasa, Turku, Helsinki and Oulu.
Our teachers can give a student who isn’t meeting academic expectations or who has gaps in his or her knowledge additional tasks or support teaching.
All students in Kurikka Upper Secondary School belong to the student union, which is represented by the board of the student union. The board takes care of organizing various events (also international events), games and theme days.
